"Not Just A Burger... It's the Answer to Your Hunger."
Since I was knee-high to a duck, I dreamed of owning my own restaurant.
My love for food started early, sitting in the kitchen watching my mother, Betty Jean Wooten, prepare homemade burgers for her coworkers. Back then, there weren’t restaurants nearby — just a hardworking woman with a skillet, some seasonings, and a whole lot of love. After she passed, that dream of opening a restaurant felt like it left with her.
But as life would have it, God led me through many twists and turns. I pursued different careers, but no matter where I went, I always found myself back in the kitchen. Cooking wasn’t just a skill — it was my comfort, my joy, and my gift.
Every Sunday became a tradition: I’d cook a big dinner for my children and grandchildren. It brought me so much joy to see them gathered around, laughing, sharing stories — and waiting for that first bite. One day, I served them a burger I'd been perfecting, and their expressions said it all.
That moment sparked something.
The idea, the name, and the soul of the restaurant were born:
"Not Just A Burger"
Because it’s the answer to your hunger.
The very next day, I set out to find a location — and the rest is history in the making.
Though my mom is in heaven now, I know she's still cooking for the angels, smiling down as we carry on her legacy with every burger, every meal, and every satisfied soul.
To Momma Betty Jean, my husband Chris, my daughters Vakina & Vensula, my son Johnnie (RIP 2009), and my grandbabies Kinya, Omari, Star, and Laylonii —
You are my inspiration. This dream is ours.
With love,
Karen
